What height of window is Ideal for Drapery
Drapery Cleaning in Pearblossom — I had a call from a gentleman who needed help with some curtains he bought at a big box store. If the 2 panels he bought could be sewn together to make them into a longer panel for both story 27, he wished to know.
I’m all about extending your decorating bucks, but this is not the means. It is probably safe to say these two story windows are a focal point within the room, therefore store bought drapes that have to be stitched together to create one panel would stand out like a sore thumb.
Store bought drapes can never be expected to do what custom draperies can. They are mass produced and only come in standard lengths 63″, 84″, 95″, 96″ and 108″. A two story window is probably going to be over 200″in the least; an average of about 216″. I am certain that I don’t have to state the obvious that if you sew two curtains together, you will see a seam running round it in the center of the curtain board, and that is a dead giveaway that they weren’t designed for your window.
Store bought drapes are also not usually satisfactorily lined and interlined. The pleating at the header (if one exists) is generally sloppy and not tailored with buckram. They’re also usually not broad enough and they do not have drapery weights sewn into the hem. These are merely some of the important pieces that come together to make up custom tailored panels. Store bought curtains do not take into consideration the wall and floor are not level and there has to be some tweaking onsite at installation
That is what you pay for when you hire an expert to design and fabricate your custom drapery. We believe all these variables after carefully assessing your windows along with the surrounding walls, ceiling and flooring
Sometimes we do drapery panels that are color-block, but those also require a design plan to Ensure the seams fall or the proportions work overall
Consider what it takes to put in two narrative drapery panels. Its is a much larger undertaking than most homeowners realize and the price is questioned by them.
Some courageous installer has to get up on a ladder (or scaffolding) to put in your new custom draperies. He’s got to have a car large enough to transport a large ladder. He really needs insurance. It will take time than lower windows and it needs specialized tools to ensure the hardware is secured to the walls
