How to Wash Drapes

Eliminate dust from your curtains along with your vacuum. Most vacuums have a soft brush attachment that’s fantastic for the drapes. Washing the Drapes
IMPORTANT: Before trying to wash your draperies, CHECK THE TAGS. A few draperies should ONLY BE CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY. NEVER wash them :
They aren’t specifically labeled as washable (when they’re lined, be sure BOTH the drapery fabric and the lining are recorded as machine washable).
The fabric is broken, frayed or disappeared (i.e. by sunlight)
Trim or other embellishments Aren’t recorded as color-fast
The draperies contain a sign for”dry clean only”
If the draperies suggest”dry clean only,” you should take them into a dry cleaner that specializes in draperies and window treatments. Take heed of the tag and follow these steps In case your draperies are machine washable:
Carefully remove the drapes from the sticks (it is best to have someone assist you with this because you will most likely require a step stool or little ladder to reach the sticks ). NEVER tug or pull the draperies to get them down since this may damage the sticks the cloth or the walls.
The draperies are wrapped with pins or hooks In the event remove and set them apart.
Hand wash a gentle detergent such as Woolite and every panel in cool water. For drapes, it could be much easier to use the tub in place of the sink.
To the GENTLE cycle, the drapes can be placed in the alternative, as indicated on the label using warm or cold water. If the label doesn’t indicate a temperature setting, opt for cold. TIP: If you are lucky enough to possess an old clothesline, then instead of the dryer, hang your draperies out to dry on the clothesline. You won’t have to be concerned about overheating, and the drapes are going to have natural odor that is fresh. To keep fabric from fading, avoid hanging in direct sun.
Eliminate draperies from your dryer immediately if desired, and press. Again, assess for settings in your tag. If no sign is given, use a cool iron. To prevent damage, utilize the iron just.
Replace the pins or hooks (if any) and then re-hang that the draperies on the sticks. Again, it is ideal to do so with another individual assisting.
