Green Carpets Cleaning

Drapery Cleaning in North Hollywood — Cleaning the draperies into your house can prolong their life and free your home of dust, dirt, pet hair and allergens.
Weekly Maintenance
Remove dust from your drapes with your vacuum. Most vacuums have. Simply set the brush attachment at the end of sweep and then the attachment hose in an up and down movement throughout the cloth. A hand-held vacuum also works well for this particular undertaking.
Washing the Drapes
IMPORTANT: CHECK THE TAGS Before attempting to wash your draperies. A few draperies should BE CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY. NEVER wash them if:
They aren’t specifically labeled as washable (if they’re lined, make sure BOTH the drapery fabric and the liner are listed as machine washable).
The fabric is damaged, frayed or faded (i.e. by sun )

The draperies are pleated

Other vases or trim are not recorded as color-fast

The draperies contain an indication for”dry clean only”
If the draperies indicate”dry clean only,” you should take them into a dry cleaner that specializes in draperies and window treatments. Take a part of the label and follow these steps, In case your draperies are machine washable:
Carefully remove the curtains from the rods (it’s best to have someone assist you with this because you will most likely need a step stool or little ladder to reach the sticks ). NEVER tug or pull the draperies to receive them down since this may damage the cloth, the rods or the walls.
In the event the draperies are hung with pins or hooks get rid of these and place them aside.
Hand wash every panel in cool water and a detergent such as Woolite. For drapes that are big, it may be more easy to use the tub in place of the sink.
Instead, the drapes can be put to the GENTLE cycle, as indicated on the label using warm or cold water. If the tag doesn’t indicate a temperature setting, elect for cold. Use a gentle detergent. DO NOT overload your washer. If your draperies are large or bulky, look at carrying them or doing the panels one at a time at which you can use oversize washers.
Place the drapes in a dryer on the atmosphere indicated on the label (probably low heat). If no dryer setting is indicated, put “no heat” (fluff) setting. Take care to not overload the dryer.
Look at taking them into a laundromat with dryers that are oversize or doing one panel at one time. The most common source of damage to draperies through the cleaning method is warmth; when in doubt (particularly if having a commercial drier not familiar for you), use the”no heat” setting. Suggestion: If you are lucky enough to have an old fashioned clothesline, rather than the dryer, hang your draperies out to dry on the clothesline. You won’t have to worry about overheating, and the curtains will have a natural scent that is fresh. To maintain fabric from fading, prevent hanging in direct sun.
Eliminate from your dryer if desired and press lightly. Again, assess for temperature settings in your tag. If no sign is provided, use a cool iron. To prevent damage, use the iron on the REVERSE side of the draperies.
Replace the pins or hooks (if any) and re-hang the draperies on the sticks. Again, it is best to do so with a different individual.
