Green Carpets Cleaning

Drapery Cleaning in Arcadia — Cleaning the draperies can prolong their life and free your house of unwanted dust, dirt, pet hair and allergens.
Weekly Maintenance
Remove dust from your curtains with your vacuum. Most vacuums have a soft brush attachment that’s fantastic for the drapes. Simply place the brush attachment on the end of sweep and this hose in an up and down motion across the fabric. A vacuum also works nicely for this task.
Washing the Drapes
IMPORTANT: Before attempting to clean your draperies, CHECK THE TAGS. A few draperies should ONLY BE CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY. NEVER wash them :
They aren’t specifically labeled as washable (if they’re lined, make sure BOTH the drapery fabric and the liner are recorded as machine washable).
The cloth is damaged, frayed or faded (i.e. by sunlight)

The draperies are pleated

Trim or other embellishments are not listed as color-fast

In case your draperies are machine washable, take a part of this label and follow these steps:
Carefully remove the curtains from the rods (it’s ideal to have someone help you with this as you will probably require a step stool or small ladder to get to the sticks ). NEVER pull or tug on the draperies to receive down them since this might damage the fabric, the sticks or the walls.
If the draperies are wrapped with pins or hooks, carefully get rid of and place them apart.
Hand wash a detergent such as Woolite and each panel in cool water. For drapes, it may be easier to use the bathtub in place of the sink.
In the alternative, the drapes can be placed in your washer on the GENTLE cycle, as indicated on the tag using warm or cold water. If the label does not indicate a temperature setting, elect for chilly. Use a gentle detergent. If your draperies are bulky or big, look at carrying them to a laundromat or doing the panels at a time where you can use oversize washers.
Place the drapes in a dryer on the setting indicated on the tag (most likely low heat). If no dryer setting is indicated, put “no heat” (fluff) setting. Be careful to not overload the dryer.
Look at taking them to a laundromat with dryers that are oversized or doing one panel at a time. The usual cause of harm to draperies through the cleaning process is warmth; if in doubt (particularly if having a commercial drier not familiar for you), use the”no heat” setting. Suggestion: If you are fortunate enough to have an old clothesline, then rather than the dryer, hang your draperies outside to dry on the clothesline. You won’t need to worry about overheating, and the curtains will have a natural odor that is fresh. To maintain fabric avoid hanging in direct sun.
Remove from your dryer immediately if desired, and press. Again, assess for temperature settings in your tag. If no sign is provided, use a cool iron. To prevent damage, use the iron just on the side of the draperies.
Replace the pins hooks (if any) and then re-hang that the draperies on the sticks. It is ideal to do this with another person assisting.
